About Stapleton...
The town of Stapleton is a master-planned community that was built on the property of the former Stapleton International Airport. The new Denver International Airport replaced Stapleton in 1995. The new community of Stapleton is a short ten minute drive to Downtown Denver and about fifteen minutes to DIA. Stapleton is spread out over both sides of interstate highway I-70. Getting around is easy and visitors to Stapleton will enjoy the views, fine dining, family fun, and local charm.
Stapleton was designed with an abundance of parks and trails that connect subdivisions constructed in different styles, thus creating a small town in the great outdoors atmosphere. The new Northfield Stapleton is an outdoor shopping center offering a movie theater and several stores, with Macy's and JCPenney being the largest. There are also many small businesses at the East 29th Street Town Center. Between the Town Center and interstate highway I-70 is Quebec Square, which is anchored by a Wal-Mart Super Center and has several restaurants.
Every structure in Stapleton has been built with green technology to maximize energy efficiency, winning several design awards. Nearly thirty percent of the 4,700 acres that comprise Stapleton has been set aside for parks and recreation. The 36 miles of bicycle trails within Stapleton are part of the 800 mile Colorado trail network, and recycling is a way of life in Stapleton.
The pedestrian focused community of Stapleton shares the Denver public transportation system, making it easy to get to work without a car. The developing Denver light-rail system is expected to reach Stapleton on the way to the Denver Airport in 2014.
